Christian Kane -- Leverage and mini-concert
( rambly report and links to video )
So we had loads of fun and I'm horrible at the whole recap thing so forgive me. And remember, Leverage premiere is tonight so everyone make sure to watch. :D

For I am Sheep ...
If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now,(even if we don't speak often or ever) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me.
It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE.
When you're finished, post this little paragraph in your LJ and see what your friends come up with.

Why do I love my show?
September 3rd, 2008
distracted
I've been doing my yoga pretty consistently lately. I just pop in a DVD and watch an episode while I do it. This helps me time my session (I'm pretty happy with just over 40 min). So anyway, working pretty good for me. Until today ... I'd been watching mostly Gilmore Girls eps which works well. But today I decide to watch Supernatural (I've got to get through season 2 before my season 3 dvds arrive tomorrow :D) The episode was Folsom Prison Blues and I kept stopping to stare at the screen or rewind to catch dialogue bits that I missed. Who knew prison orange would be such a good color for them?

LiveLongNMarry offer
I posted an offer for fanfic in
livelongnmarry. It is here. I hope I don't end up regretting this.

Live Long and Marry - Fandom fundraiser
Similar to Sweet Charity, this is an auction where fandom members write offers (for fanfic, beta, hand-made items, etc -- see offers already posted for ideas) and then we bid on those offers, proceeds to help fight against the California initiative which will legally destroy existing same-sex marriages and ban any further ones. Check out the community info for all the details.
Bidding starts July 1, so we better get to work on those offers. :D
Dark Angel Screencaps
I'm screencapping (slowly) the Alec shots from Dark Angel s2. So far I've done 2.01 - Designate This and 2.11 The Berrisford Agenda. I'll load the others as I finish them. You can find them here.

Adam made me an icon!
Isn't it great?

Buffy 4.10 "Hush"
This is actually a great ep! But I'm not (really) doing the episode by episode commentary thing. I just wanted to say:
Tara! Oh how I've missed you girl. And I didn't remember you being so ... stuttery.
ps. I need more Buffy icons that aren't dark/angry/vengeful!Willow.
pps. And I'm not going to be spamming you guys with this crap. Really, I'm not.

Angel 1.09 "Hero"
I think I'm gonna keep all my thoughts and feelings on this one under the cut. Or most of them anyway.
Doyle (and Glenn Quinn) were so awesome in this. Redefining the word 'hero' for me and forever removing it from the 'chosen one' and 'champion' class. Heroes are where you find them, and you'll almost always be surprised.
There are many deeper, more important messages in this. But I am shallow and choose not to address them just now.
I admit I was spoiled for so much the first time I watched. But there were a few things Adam kept from me. And this was one of them. And it broke me. Despite all my new and old fannish interests, I don't think I've ever managed to fully recover from this. Every time I think 'Kripke wouldn't do that', I remember this episode. And worry. God I hate hiatus.
And no, I'm not gonna start spamming you guys. At least I don't think so.

Buffy 4.09 "Something Blue"
I really hadn't meant to share so much about my 3rd (or 4th or 5th) time through the series. But I keep finding the crack. And feel compelled to share. I mean Spike chained in Giles' bathtub watching Passions while Giles is wishing desperately for a shower sometime today -- alone.
spoiler warning: There may be slight spoilers for future episodes here.

Buffy 4.08 - "Pangs" aka "Ritual Sacrifice, with Pie"
I'm Buffy watching again (Yes, we're watching Angel too, I'm sure I'll mock that soon). Anyway, the crack continues. I could point at just about every line here.

My brain is a strange place
I'm online messing around and watching baseball at the same time. So -- someone mentions shagging fly balls in the outfield and all I can think is -- Who is shagging who in the outfield? Should I blame the narcotics I'm currently on?

Buffy episode "The Prom"
Has anybody else noticed that this episode is complete crack? with a side of schmoop ...

It's done!
*throws confetti*
My Sweet Charity fic is done! It's in a horrible mess with bits scribbled in red pen and pencil all over the the place and whole paragraphs written in pencil on the backs of the pages. But it's done.
Now to gather the bits together into some semblance of order, polish it up a touch and send it off for beta!
Is it still Tuesday in Brisbane?
ETA: It's off to beta! Where are you people? I'm going into chat withdrawal or something.

icon etiquette question
With the exodus of many to IJ, I have a couple of questions about icons.
1) How should we credit the icons? I save mine with the LJ username so I know who to credit. But I have no clue if these people are on IJ. I can of course link to their livejournal profile for those I don't know, but that doesn't answer the 2nd question.
2) I don't know if any of them might object to having their icons used places other than LJ. I think I've read somewhere someone didn't want some sort of art used outside LJ. Do you guys think it would be respectful of the artist's rights if I go ahead and use them and put disclaimer in my IJ profile to let me know if the artist objects to the use on IJ?
People I know personally are easy, but usually that's not the case. I'm probably worrying over nothing, but that's nothing new for me. What do you guys think?

Amazon Sale
Amazon has science fiction and fantasy show DVDs 50% off. Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Dark Angel, X-Files, Stargate, Smallville, etc are included. Not trying to be an advert here but if any were waiting like me for better prices on complete series, this might be a good to buy.

We have power!
We had the mother of all ice storms on Sunday, which threw our power out a bit before 9pm. So this is ice outside, 20-something (about -7.7) degrees out, no power, no internet, no television, no heat, no way to cook anything. Power came on for about 2 mins at 1:44 am Monday but went right back out. All day Monday we listened to (and watched) tree limbs come down all around us. One person around the block from us had a big limb go through their roof. There were lots of close calls with limbs almost hitting cars, houses, etc in our immediate area. Our next door neighbor had a small tree fall on one of their vehicles, but R and the neighbor pulled the tree off and there wasn't any damage. We had several limbs fall on our roof but we don't think there was any damage. We went out on Monday for staples and I struck gold finding the last 2 packages of D-cell batteries (for the flashlights) in town.
So it appears the only casualties at my house are the fence in the side yard and some food in the fridge that might have been close to dodgy anyway. My desktop computer won't boot, but I'm hoping if I give her time to warm up a bit she'll be fine. It was 48 (about 8.9) degrees in the house when the power came back on. We did have hot water, the gas fireplace in the living room and lots of blankets. We blocked off the hallways leading from the living room with blankets to keep the heat in and we all congregated there. R went out every morning for coffee and food and then we went out for dinner most evenings. Lunch was sandwiches, cheese, cream cheese and/or peanut butter and crackers. We considered renting a room, but there were reports of vandalism in abandoned homes so we stuck it out here. The power was restored just before 5pm today (Thurs) so it was out not quite 4 days. That was more than enough for me.
To recap, power is back, nobody killed each other, and I'm exhausted. And I get to watch Supernatural tonight!
ETA: Long hot soak in the bathtub, then Supernatural!
ETA2: posted to LJ and GJ on Thursday, but IJ wouldn't cooperate so I'm posting a bit after the fact.
